A School Built Around Students
Lighthouse was created with a simple but important belief: students grow when they are known, encouraged, challenged, and given meaningful opportunities to succeed.
We provide a structured educational environment where strong academics work alongside Christian values, positive discipline, hands-on learning, athletics, and preparation for life beyond graduation.
Christ-Centered
Faith shapes how we teach, lead, encourage students, and treat one another. Students are reminded that they are loved by Jesus and created for a purpose.

A Calling Born After the Storm
Lighthouse Academy began in 2004 after Hurricane Ivan devastated the Northwest Florida coast. Schools and preschools closed, families were rebuilding, and children needed stability, encouragement, and a safe place to learn.
During that difficult season, founder Dr. Joanna Johannes felt called to create a nurturing, Christ-centered school that would help children heal, learn, and rediscover joy.
Lighthouse began with 18 young students in one room. From that humble beginning, it grew into a school family serving kindergarten through 12th-grade students across Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, and Milton.
The campuses and programs have expanded, but the heart of Lighthouse remains the same: love students, support families, inspire learning, and provide children with the guidance and opportunities they need to grow.
“This is the Lord’s school. I am just here to help.”
