We are proud to offer the Abeka® Curriculum for our Elementary (K-5th) Classes. The Abeka® curriculum is known for its successful early reading program, developed and refined for nearly 20 years before its publication. It is an intensive (or synthetic) phonics approach (learning letter names, sounds, blends, words) with the focus first on learning to read (K–2) and then on reading to learn. The Abeka® program is accredited by the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools.
BJU Press is a well-established Christian curriculum that has been in existence since 1973. BJU Press is committed to Christian education. They support Christian education by producing textbooks and materials that shape a biblical worldview, are academically rigorous, encourage critical thinking, and are supported with technology solutions. Lighthouse Private Christian Academy utilizes the latest version of BJU Press.
Founded by teachers and educators that had the desire to teach strong Christian values while promoting academic excellence, this innovative and award-winning curriculum provides our students with a versatile and multi-functioning in class and online learning platform. The interactive features, with teacher led involvement, creates an exceptional learning experience for our students. We believe this curriculum is excellent for preparing our students for post-secondary education. Our 11th and 12th graders also attend classes with the traditional BOB JONES curriculum depending on the college preparatory campus.
